Job Duties
- Perform preventive maintenance on all vehicles following a checklist.
- Assist with pre-trip inspections and detail motor fleet vehicles.
- Repair and/or perform work on the vehicle ignition system, electrical system, cooling system, fuel injectors and fuel pumps, brakes, exhaust, suspension, air conditioning system, engine and powertrain, and differential.
- Wash, clean and polish motor vehicles.
- Check and maintain fluid levels of vehicles.
- Fuel vehicles.
- Clean and vacuum carpets in automobiles.
Other Work Responsibilities
- Rescue inoperative vehicles, and tow to the designated garage.
- Transport vehicles to and from outside contractors and businesses for the purpose of specialty repair.
- Use knowledge of both AC and DC electrical systems to perform repairs.
- Assist Automotive Services in performing more complex duties that may require greater skill and knowledge.
- Maintain a clean shop area.
- Perform tire repair as needed.
- Perform tire replacements as required.
- Perform battery testing and replacements as required.
- Perform other duties as required.
Departmental Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education
Associate’s degree in Automotive Technology from an accredited college.
- Two years' automotive work experience.
- ASE certification.
- Experience in performing basic upkeep and preventative maintenance on vehicles.
- Working knowledge of repairing and/or performing work on vehicles (ie: ignition system, electrical system, cooling system, fuel injectors and fuel pumps, brakes, exhaust, suspension, air conditioning system, engine and power-train, and differential).
- Working knowledge of both AC and DC electrical systems.
- Experience with battery testing and replacements.
- Experience with tire repair and replacements.
