DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Under the guidance of the Director of Injury Monitoring and Prevention the Surveillance Data analyst will provide assistance with the following duties:
Surveillance
- Monitoring media for near misses, fatal and non-fatal SCUBA related events.
- Data entry and data management
- Obtain investigative and medical examiners’ reports and other health surveillance data on SCUBA related events.
- Conduct records abstraction on all fatal and non-fatal SCUBA events
- Read and interpret case records and appropriate diagnosis codes from varied sources.
- Maintain a database of investigative agencies and medical examiners
- Enter and clean all data related to SCUBA events.
- Coordinate Survey Monkey, REDcap and other tools for data collection and analysis
- Communicate effectively with medical professionals and administrative personnel
EDUCATION/TRAINING:
Bachelor’s degree in public health, Biostatistics, Epidemiology, Sociology, Demography or related field that included at least 6-semester units in statistics or quantitative analysis methods
Prefer applicants with 1 year of graduate training in public health, epidemiology, biostatistics, health informatics or related field.
EXPERIENCE:
- Ability to develop and implement questionnaires with Survey Monkey
- Ability to analyze data in SQL, SAS, R, Python, and QGIS
- Familiarity with Public Health concepts
- Ability to manage research datasets
- Familiarity with health surveillance systems
- Ability to write for scientific and non-scientific audiences.
- Ability to conduct a descriptive analysis
- Proficiency in Microsoft Project, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Access
- Ability to work in a culturally competent and diverse work environment
