Primary Responsibilities
- Work with Software Engineering teams to evaluate system specifications, with regards to provisioning and delivery of infrastructure·
- Create and maintain IAC using industry standard platforms.
- Engage in capacity planning and demand forecasting; software performance analysis and system tuning.
- Administration of Red Hat Linux (VM level), to include configuration, patching, and overall server health.
- Analyze all aspects of existing application infrastructure and recommend modifications that will enhance application reliability, availability and scalability.
- Experience using performance monitoring tools to identify system performance issues and bottlenecks.
- Analyze dump files and error codes.
- Document Root Cause Analysis for escalated issues and/or complex troubleshooting.
- Troubleshoot research and analyze complex network design and architecture problems.
- Familiarity with log aggregation tools such as Splunk.
- Analyze and document the infrastructure to achieve and maintain auto-scaling.
- Provide Support for Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD).
- You will be involved in solving moderately complex problems.
- Participate in on-call rotation to maintain application availability.
- Other responsibilities as determined necessary.
Required Qualifications
- A Bachelor /Master Degree in applicable areas of expertise or equivalent experience.
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect/Sysops/Devops – Associate/Professional (certification).
- Previous Cloud Experience with Amazon Web Services.
- Detailed experience designing fault tolerant and highly available systems.
- Experience with automated configuration and deployment; Chef, Puppet, Terraform, or other Infrastructure as Code (IAC) frameworks.
- Previous System Admin experience; preferably Red Hat.
- Knowledge of, or experience with, Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD).
- Past experience troubleshooting complex infrastructure problems in an enterprise environment.
- Knowledge and understanding of network theory; protocols (TCP / IP, UDP, ICMP, etc.), MAC addresses, IP packets and their framing, DNS, LDAP, OSI layers, and load balancing).
- Past experience with app and web server configuration and maintenance (JBoss, WebSphere, Apache Tomcat, or similar).
- Ability to communicate analysis, including trends and opportunities, to improve service availability.
- Experience supporting, configuring and engineering applications.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous work experience as a system admin, and/or a network engineer.
- Deep understanding of industry relevant security controls (boundary/perimeter protection, data loss prevention, encryption, etc.).
- Proponent of immutable infrastructure.
- Experience in software development environments.
- Past experience as a system administrator or network engineer.
- Thorough understanding of networking, especially VM environments.
